Movable roofs, which are guided on rail systems, e.g. in sports stadiums and arenas, must be secured against unwanted movements also during storm, hurricane and earthquakes.
This is safety is achieved with storm brakes, also called rail clamps.
Reference: 32 units “VZFH – 3” rail clamps secure the two halves of the moveable roof over the Sports arena “Sports Hub” in Singapore. Each half of the roof weights 200 tons and has a size of 40 m in width and 200 m in length and must be held tight even during extreme situations such as hurricanes.
Latest project: 36 units VZFH-2 will protect the new stadion in Hong Kong (still under construction).
